The NA62 Experiment at CERN: Status of the Construction

Speaker: Ferdinand Hahn

The NA62 experiment aims at a precision measurement of the ultra-rare decay K+ -> pi+ nu nubar using a dedicated 75 GeV/c secondary kaon beam from the SPS at CERN. The talk will review the status of the construction of the major elements of the NA62 experiment and of its beam line and report experience from a successful technical Run in 2012. The experimental setup is being completed to start physics data taking in October 2014 as soon as the CERN SPS will resume operation after the Long Shutdown 1.
