Prospects for the Calculation of Rare Kaon Decay Amplitudes from Lattice Simulations

Speaker: Chris Sachrajda

Recent progress in lattice simulations makes it possible to extend significantly the range
of physical quantities which can be studied. In this talk I will discuss the prospects for
the calculation of the amplitudes for FCNC rare decays K → πl+ l− and K → πν νbar
(for charged (K ) and neutral (KS,L ) kaons) discussing in particular the possibility of
calculating the long-distance contributions. The discussion will be informed by the recent
studies of long-distance contributions to ∆MK by the RBC-UKQCD collaboration.
